SpeechPath Ohio’s preschool language groups are designed to develop and enrich your child’s ability to use age appropriate sounds in words, follow directions, express their thoughts and ideas and interact appropriately with their peers. We currently have openings in the groups listed above and new groups will be added soon. At least three students are needed to form a new group. If you are interested in having your child join one of our groups, please complete the Preschool Language Group Registration form above.
What is a preschool language group?
SpeechPath Ohio's preschool language groups are designed to develop and enrich your child’s abilities in speech sound production, fluency, understanding or using language. Early reading skills and social skills are also incorporated into each session. All groups are taught by a certified speech-language pathologist.
Tiny Talkers is a 6 week program for early preschoolers, ages 2 and 3 years, who have are speaking in single words to short sentences. The speech therapist leads both parent and child in goal focused and fun activities based on the Hanen Center's program: It Takes Two to Talk. Strategies to foster speech and language development are taught and practiced so that parents are empowered to continue the learning at home.
Turbo Talkers are our older preschoolers, ages 3 and a half to 5 years, who have a larger vocabulary and are speaking in phrases or sentences and who are able to work indendent of their parents. These children need additional support with their speech clarity or verbal expression. Children in this group work with the speech therapist on activities designed to meet their individual goals as well as to provide them with social skill development opportunities. Parents are given weekly information and activities for carryover at home.
How would my child benefit?
If your child is having difficulty understanding or using language, early intervention is key in helping prepare them for school. Early intervention can also teach your child to effectively socialize with others. Language is the basis for all learning: understanding concepts, reading, writing and interacting well with others, to name a few. Learning requires the ability to understand what's being taught, being able to ask the right questions and being able to communicate well with others. This group will help your child learn the language skills needed to continue to learn and grow.
How many children are in this group?
The group setting allows for wonderful learning opportunities, because children learn a lot from each other. However, we keep the groups small, no more than six children, so that your child still gets enough individual attention from the clinician and has many opportunities to participate in each activity.
Is my child eligible for the program?
Tiny Talkers is great for all preschoolers, not just those with communication delays. This program is designed to enrich language development for children ages 2-5 years. All parents and children can participate to learn new ways to foster communication. Children who have communication delays or need opportunities to socialize with other children their age will also benefit from Tiny Talkers.
How much does this program cost?
Preschool Language Group will last approximately 60 minutes and cost $60.00 for the 6 week session. Insurance coverage may be available for this program under certain circumstances. Call our office at 740-277-7882 for more details.
